Who knew that being politically correct could extend all the way to getting a dog? When Michelle Obama announced in October that the family would get a dog after the campaign, the likes of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and the Best Friends Animal Society rounded up over 50,000 signatures in the hopes of swaying the Obamas to adopt a dog instead of buying one. Barack explained at the press conference that while they would prefer to get a shelter dog, they would have to reconcile that with finding one that was hypoallergenic.
