My cat receives daily fluid therapy for her kidney failure. Do you have any other advice on how we can make kitty comfortable? --iVillager paulajean

Dr. Messonnier says: Fluid therapy at home is very important for cats and dogs with kidney failure. Try using smaller needles, 23 to 25 gauge, to help with any discomfort or skin thickening.

Flower essences and maybe an herbal product like Nutricalm from RX Vitamins for Pets can be helpful too, though I would have this evaluated by your local vet to rule out other problems like allergies.

Good Luck!
