Is there a holistic alternative to prednisone used for pets with IBD?
Dr. Messonnier says: A new drug called budesonide may be helpful for you. In my practice, a natural diet, a supplement called Nutrigest (with glutamine and probiotics,) an adsorbent (we use Gastrex) and a plant enzyme are very helpful for IBD.
Keep in mind that we judge success by various factors, and some pets still need low doses of prednisone on this regimen, but that is still successful for these patients.
