ZEBRA CICLHID Pseudotropheus zebra:
Africa (Lake Malawi): Very aggressive; should be kept in large aquarium (29 gallon and larger). Male should be kept with several females. Keep only with similar species. Not community fish.

FIREMOUTH CICHLID Thorichthys meeki:
Guatemala, South Mexico: Keep in a community aquarium with other fish that are at least 5cm long. Sometimes quarrelsome. Digs holes when breeding. Offer caves in which to hide.

OSCAR Astronotus ocellatus:
South Amazon, Paraguay: Only the young fish are suitable for the beginner. Grows fast but when larger will be aggressive. Likes to dig up plants, therefore, maintain in an aquarium which contains only driftwood and rocks.

ANGELFISH Pterophyllum scalare:
Middle Amazon, Guyana: Peaceful fish. Suitable for community aquariums with other quiet species. Popular because of their large variation in color and distinctive shape. Does not disturb plants.
