My Business: Mitchell Web Design Services. I design Websites for anyone -- businesses, nonprofits, industry or individuals.

Business Birthdate: Officially started in April, 2000, but didn't start "working" the business until January 2001.

How I Got Started: I had designed my previous employer's Website. When I quit to stay home with my son, a couple of nonprofits that had seen my employer's site asked me to do theirs. Then I got a couple of paying clients and it's taken off from there!

Top Start-up Strategy: Make your own brochures and business cards with computer software and hand them out to everyone. It makes you look like a professional and "commits" you to working. If your city has any kind of business event, make sure you are there with a smile and lots of cards and brochures.
