All Ficus need a good, well-drained potting soil; let the top inch or two of soil dry out slightly between waterings. Watch the plants to be sure they do not get pot bound as shown by roots coming out the bottom of the pot or you not being able to stick your finger two inches into the soil without resistance. When you repot, choose a container that is two inches larger in diameter. The plants need to be fed every two weeks with a water-soluble plant food as you water.

The weeping fig is very sensitive to environmental change and will often drop leaves when moved or disturbed. All these types of the Ficus prefer bright indirect light and can be pruned back as needed to control the shape and height of the plants. Wiping the leaves periodically with a damp cloth also helps the plants to breathe more freely. Watch the plants for insects like the mealy bug and whiteflies.
