Living Room Before & After
by Christopher Lowell
This room had a fireplace, a window, and a door on one wall, a very large arched window on another, and a dining room arch on yet another wall. All these openings needed to be united in some way. The solution? We made six flared, hollow boxes to act as decorative corbels from which we could later cascade fabric panels. The symmetrical vertical lines would help even out the height discrepancy among the openings. We went on to concentrate on our window treatments, adding rich pumpkin tapestry panels to give that old-world Spanish touch. Finally we added tall plants, again for height, as well as some smaller ones atop each corbel.
