An easy gift and a fun project, it only takes a few simple steps to make your own soap. Note: one pound of glycerin soap should yield about nine slices.
- Cut about 16 one-inch chunks of clear soap along scored lines.
- Place the soap in a microwaveable measuring cup or double boiler.
- Heat it in the microwave for about a minute. Stir gently. Then heat it in 10-second intervals until the soap is completely melted. Be sure not to over-heat. Be careful - melted soap is very hot!
- Add a few drops of desired fragrance. You may also choose, at this time, to add some soap glitter.
- Pour a small amount (just enough to cover the bottom of the mold) of melted soap slowly into the loaf mold.
- Drop in multi-colored soap curls.
- Pour remainder of soap slowly into the mold until full.
- Let cool completely, about 45-60 minutes. To release from mold, apply constant and even pressure with your thumbs.
- Slice the loaf into 3/4-inch wide sections.
- Wrap each slice in clear plastic wrap to preserve its beauty.
